My morning wake up call is about 15 hours away and though I am loathe to admit it, often I sleep through the first alarm and only just manage to make the second.
When I wake up, most likely, I will be so busy pulling my shoes on that I won’t have time to make coffee (or at least good coffee, the instant coffee in my travel mug doesn’t count) and with about 13 minutes to make it out of the door I have enough time to drink a coffee, but not enough time to make a coffee.
With Summer just about over (thank you mid-September heatwave), I still have my cold brew coffee equipment out and ready for use, so why not take advantage of it?
For those who don’t know, cold brew coffee is possibly the simplest method to prepare coffee, I’ll walk you through my method.
- Get drop filter (for example)
- Add to cup
- Add one scoop of coffee (or one scoop per cup if using a jug)
- Add water
- Wait 8 hours
- Chill overnight
It might sound like a lot of work for a morning beverage, but it’s just prep work in advance of consumption instead of at the time.
For those serious about enjoying their coffee cold, you can get a full jugs worth (source) if you so wish.
The benefits of the cold brew coffee is generally a less acidic drink which allows the natural sweetness of the coffee to show through, you can get a quite distinct flavour from your coffee beans just by changing the brewing method,
So, only 15 hours till I’m enjoying my coffee, exciting eh?
